KFH2 FURLING LOCK
Launched in 2006, the Karver halyard lock remains unique to the market. It is the only system combining a furling swivel with a locking mechanism in the same unit. The system is composed of a pin (male part, attached to the mast) and a top swivel (furling lock mechanism). Only one line is required as the halyard hoists, engages and releases the lock with mechanical simplicity.
Once locked, the halyard is not tensioned anymore. The compression in the mast is halved and halyard wear is minimized. The luff is tensioned from the bottom of the drum with a block, eliminating the need for a 2:1 halyard set up. It is also possible to use a smaller and lighter halyard as it only carries the weight of the sail. Once unlocked, only the lightest part of the mechanism remains on the top of the mast while the furling-lock is on deck leaving no moving parts aloft, making it easy to service.
ADVANTAGES
- Halyard lock with furling mechanism
- Reduce compression in the mast
- No stretch in the halyard
- Gain of weight aloft
Technical characteristics:
Working load: 2,5 T
Breaking load: 5 T
Weight: 450 g
Max halyard diameter: 7 mm
Height: 141 mm
