Developed to withstand the pressure of larger engines In 2018/19, Flexofold developed the propeller for the SD15 from ZF. In close cooperation with Yanmar, the first test runs were carried out with a Kufner 54 equipped with a Yanmar 4JH110 engine with 110 HP. In 2023, Flexofold decided to develop a new hub for the Saildrive SD15 after Yanmar developed the 4LV150 engine for Saildrives. The new hub is not only dimensioned to withstand the pressure of larger engines and higher power, but also offers you the many advantages of our folding propellers, such as low drag, higher speed, and increased safety, to name just a few. The propeller for the SD15 Saildrive has been developed in our well-known Flexofold design and with the technical advantages we are known for. We have developed a product that meets the special technical requirements for the inner hub due to the increased engine power of large boats. So if you decide to upgrade your boat to a larger model, there is always a Flexofold folding propeller that meets your requirements at sea. Danish Quality All Flexofold propellers are developed and manufactured in our factory in Denmark, which is equipped with modern CNC systems and robot technology. In 2017, Flexofold was acquired by Yanmar Marine International. However, Flexofold continues to operate from the factory in Denmark, retains its own brand identity, and remains a company registered in Denmark. The propellers are sold directly to boat builders as well as private boat owners worldwide. Thanks to our flexible production structure, we can produce and ship worldwide within a few days. THE NEW SD15 HUB The helical gearing between the blades ensures a synchronous folding mechanism Protective cover over the gearing Easily replaceable anode Large shock absorbers for silent opening of the propeller Equipped with a special inner hub that protects the saildrive and gearbox from propeller shocks Mounting screws are coated with a special adhesive/Loctite® that allows installation both above and below water The propeller is water-lubricated - therefore no need for ongoing maintenance or service THE ORIGINAL SD15 HUB The main difference between the new and old hub is the design. In the manufacture of the new hub, a larger amount of raw material is used to form the larger diameter at the base of the hub. To make room for the blades, much of the raw material is removed, making the new hub more expensive than our old hub. The removed raw material is recycled. The properties of the old and new hub are the same, so you can continue to enjoy the many advantages of a Flexofold folding propeller. Propeller Sizes Flexofold folding propellers for the SD15 Saildrive consist of 8 main hubs, which can be combined with a wide range of blade diameters with different pitches. This enables Flexofold to supply propellers for any engine/gearbox combination within the SD15 Saildrive range. We have developed propellers for the Lagoon 55 (2x Nanni N4.115), Oyster 495 (2x Yanmar 4JH110), and Y Yacht "Y8" (2x Nanni N4.115), and many more. We already have a 4-blade propeller with a 23-inch diameter, but we are also able to meet the needs for even larger engines such as the N4.140 from Nanni and the Yanmar 4LV170. In addition, we have developed a 4-blade propeller for a Nanni N4.115, which will be installed on the next Lagoon 55. We are currently working on several OEM projects with the Nanni N4.140 (135 HP).
